Do squirrels actually throw nuts?

I see movies, commercials, etc. of squirrels throwing nuts at people, but does that actually happen?Do squirrels actually throw nuts?

When they begin to flee (feeling in danger) then they can drop down a nut - if they just had been eating it.
no they do not really throw nuts most of the time squirrels run away from their predators
that has happened to my friend... i don't know if he was lying or not but he said that he was running after a squirrel that had an acorn and the next thing he knew was that an acorn was headed his way! just be careful because any animal can defend itself anyway it wants to... hope that helps!!!
