Wait for them. My advice is to get as high up as possible so the lower foliage in the trees doesn't block your view to the shot. My dog constantly barks if a squirrel walks along the power line in front of our house and we live in town so every once in a while i have to take down one that moves into the tree near our house for the sake of our neighbors ears and sleep.
I use a winchester 1000 break action and a powerline 32x scope, take some time to sight it in by shooting at a large piece of cardboard or wood and then adjust the dials as needed. It's a lot rougher on the heart to kill an animal for me than i can handle so i just try not to think about it.
