Is it ok to eat squirrels?

cuz if by chance i would catch one in my backyard, could i eat it with out fear of disease and any other risky things. and how should i prepare it?Is it ok to eat squirrels?
eww. you have no idea where that squirrel has been!Is it ok to eat squirrels?
No and here is why.

Two Kentucky doctors last month reported a possible link between eating squirrel brains and the rare and deadly human variety of mad-cow disease, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, thought to strike one person in 1 million, produces holes in the brain. Symptoms include loss of muscle control and dementia. It may take years, even decades, for symptoms to appear.
Many a country family has survived by eating squirrels.

Someone else mentioned mad-cow disease (mad squirrel?) from eating the brains. Well then, just don't eat the brains or spinal cord.

There isn't much to a tiny squirrel brain anyway! Just lop off the head, gut and skin it and proceed as you would with chicken.

I'm sure you'd even find some good recipes for squirrel online.

IMHO, rabbit is tastier though.
Yes, especially the red squirrels. They're deliciuos.

Do dress them before you even think about cooking

them. (skin them and get all the guts out as well as

cutting the head and tail. You must let the carcus

reast a few hours before you make any attempt to

to cook it.) Good eating!!!
There is always a very small risk of disease, whether you are consuming beef, pork, etc. or...in this case...squirrel. (Never eat an animal that looks unhealthy!) Prepare it anyway you want...you can fry it, make stew, roast it (long and slow is the best!) It's not half bad LOL! --happy hunting
ok, well:

#1: I don't see much squirrels around my neighborhood anymore.

#2: disease is possible.

#3: research how to eat/cook a squirrel.

#4: It's your decision to eat one or not.

No one is stopping you, but I am only giving you suggestions about it.
I wouldn't. You never know what wild animals can get into. People sometomes leave out poisons to try to get rid of annoying critters. If you ate them you would also be poisoned. Besides they are too darn cute to eat.
I defiantly wouldn't, just to be on the safe side. You never know what diseases they could be carrying. But if you insist on eating it, make sure you cook it thoroughly.
yes it achually is as look as they don't have rabies or any disease. There meat in one of the highest protiens meats on a small animal. cook it right though. might need to add lots of flavouring
If it is squirrel season. There are times of the year that they may be mating or more prone to disease. I prefer mine browned and then finished in a gravy type sauce.
Thirty minutes per pound @ 350F Skin, clean and bleed before use. Not much meat on these more on rabbit.
you must be a city boy. of course you can.
Eat it raw. They are delicious.
are you kidding!

NO

:(

GEEZ they carry deseases like many other wild critters
It's ok , Danny boy . I eatem with lots o ketchup .
